Timmer & Judkins is delighted to announce that the Iowa State Bar Association has appointed attorney Katie Ervin Carlson to a three-year term on the Iowa Supreme Court’s Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure. The committee reviews and recommends changes to the Iowa Rules of Civil Procedure, which impact every civil case in the Iowa courts. The State Bar’s appointment of Katie is the latest example of the firm’s unyielding commitment to bettering its community and the legal profession.

Katie’s most recent appointment is one of several Iowa Supreme Court appointments for the firm’s lawyers. Katie and Beatriz Mate-Kodjo also serve on the Iowa Supreme Court’s grievance commission, hearing ethics complaints prosecuted by the Supreme Court’s Attorney Disciplinary Board. Nate Borland recently served with the Iowa Board of Law Examiners as a grader, and Brooke Timmer serves as an elected member of the District 5C Judicial Nominating Convention.

T&J attorneys also embrace leadership roles in key legal organizations. Brooke Timmer serves on the Board of Governors of the Iowa Association for Justice, where Katie Ervin Carlson serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee and Katie and Nate Borland serve on the Amicus Committee. Katie and Nate are members of the Section Council for the Iowa State Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Section. Nate also serves as the Chair of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Litigation Section. All of the firm’s attorneys are members of the Iowa chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association.

Whitney Judkins and Brooke Timmer are longtime members of the C. Edwin Moore American Inn of Court.
